Chicken on special, we should preorder now
We aren't ordering this weekend, but...
This month's special is Murray's chicken. We've gotten their whole chickens before, as it's a very good buy, and at least two people made a point of saying it was tasty stuff. It's not organic, but it's "certified humane raised & handled" and they "practice sustainable farming, use 100 percent vegetarian feed, raise our birds without hormones or antibiotics and our chickens are free to roam outside of cages." They are not free range - they are raised cageless inside barns on family farms in Pennsylvania. You can read more on their web site.
So not raised on grass and bugs, but they are very affordable for being leaps and bounds above supermarket factory chicken.
The whole chickens are 2.75/lb and average 3.5 pounds, so about 9.70 per chicken.
We can also get boneless skinless breast tenders in one-lb packages for 4.75 per pound.
(for comparison, Laughing Chicken's prices are just over $3/lb for whole, $10/lb for breasts, and $12/lb for tenders. Eberley, our buying club source for free range poultry, is around $10/lb for breasts as well.)
To get the sale price, we need to preorder in time for it to ARRIVE in February. So I'd like to go ahead and put in a preorder for it this week. If you're interested in ordering one of these chicken items, email me, and I'll let you all know if we get up to a case (there are 10 in a case). Last time we ordered, they arrived naked, not wrapped in any plastic, just 10 chickens in one big bag. I think I now understand the coding, and these come individually wrapped! And the tenders are wrapped in 1 lb packages.
So please email me with what you'd like if you're interested in
WHOLE chickens at 2.75/lb (estimated 9.70 each) and/or
BREAST tenders at 4.75/lb (in pkgs of about 1 lb each)
